Jesse Williams...tall, dark and oh so lovely. Jesse is the sexy new addition to Grey's Anatomy as Dr. Jackson Avery. He has a degree from Temple University and was a high school teacher before he broke into acting. Mr. Williams is definitely my newest swoon-worthy crush.

The Outcast
by Sadie Jones
Love it, love it, love it. A powerful piece of art about repression, the price of remaining silent, love, hate, self-loathing, forgiveness and the ability to move on. The story is both heartbreaking and lovely at the same time. Surrender to the crisp sentences, vivid imagery and limited dialogue and you will be moved t pieces.
Lewis’s attempts to embrace a society that will never embrace him back is gut wrenching. Lewis will break your heart. Lewis, the flawed antihero, who is devastatingly damaged and flawed, will make you love him. Every woman in the book wants to heal him and then sleep with him. Lewis is the man you fall in love with when every part of your brain tells you you shouldn’t but you can’t help yourself. He’s hot, flawed and you can’t help but want him and that is why he is atop my Sultry Six.
At the train station as Lewis tells Kit: I’ll be better for you, I promise’ and then as the train pulls away Kit says ‘We’re saved!’ I cried, reread it and cried again. The author has such a command of the story, and the relationship between Kit and Lewis that these were the perfect words to say by the perfect people.
The tension, the anxiety for Lewis, the worry for Lewis and his future, then the worry for Kit, his isolation and her devotion and loyalty to him is what makes this story so real and believable. It’s satisfying for the reader. It’s why I love to read.
This is the first novel by Sadie Jones and it is something not to be missed. It is definitely one to put on my bookshelf.

She needed to heal him, she believed she could, she had to do it. The sexual aura between them after he returns home intensifies and intensifies until they couldn’t deny it anymore- while fundamentally wrong- I wasn’t appalled by it, I believed it because of who Lewis was and the reactions he invokes in people. The scene was raw, and filled with horror, hate, passion, desperation and momentary release. It had to happen.
Lewis’s confrontation with Dicky Carmichael, as a reader and a romantic, was satisfying. It was theatrical and a bit exaggerated but I think the ability of the townspeople to brush aside something so egregious and frightening was the point, so it had to be grand and over-the top.

The Paid Companion
The Paid Companion is an historical romance between Arthur, Earl of St. Merryn and Elenora with a good mystery thrown in. St. Merryn is an intelligent, stuffy hero with a rough exterior and a heart ready to be melted by the right woman. Elenora is a self-confident and resourceful woman who intrigues St. Merryn with her unconventional attitude. She is quite unlike any woman he has ever met in that she is considered over the hill at 26, unmarried and works for an employment agency that supplies paid companions.
The story is a touch like Pretty Woman in which a handsome, older man consumed with work is taken with the down and out woman who makes him realize that there are more important things is life, like sensual touches of the knee and delicate brushes of the arm.
The mystery unfolds with Arthur diligently trying to find the murderer of his great-uncle, a great alchemist. The investigation occurs during the Season, in which older stuffy men are looking for young, naïve women to marry. During the investigation throughout the city of London, Arthur decides he doesn’t need the hassle of young women and their mothers trying to impress upon him for a marriage contract thus he visits an employment agency to hire a paid companion. Arthur notices Elenora’s fiery temper and decides she will be perfect as his live-in “fiancée” for the Season. The witty banter between Arthur and Elenora makes this romance a great read. With phrases like “I vow” and “Damnation, woman” how could you not be entertained?

Stay In Bed Sundays
Usually on Sundays I stay in and watch Lifetime movies while doing household chores or more than likely I’ll just be a complete bore and lie on my couch all afternoon with my favorite blanket and pillow. I admit this doesn’t invite romance but it sure does feel good. Maybe next Sunday I’ll do something different…or maybe not. Happy Weekend.

Romantic Musings
January is almost over and romance has not yet swooped into my life. I admit I haven’t taken the steps to make this happen but it’s because I have been out of town for the past three weeks babysitting two young toddlers who take up a lot of time and energy, which I could be devoting to myself. I haven’t shaved, waxed or put on make-up in ages. I feel less than femininely wicked. But I’ve already made an appointment with the greatest Polish waxer in Los Angeles as soon as the plane lands.
Just a thought: Why do single men never go to sex rehab?

Northern Lights
by Nora Roberts
I decided to read this book after having watched the Lifetime movie with Leann Rimes and Eddie Cibrian. The book was entertaining but about 100 pages too long (sorry Ms. Roberts). Towards the end I felt Roberts just wanted to write because she could and I grew bored. However, before the last 100 pages I was engrossed. Roberts paints such an idyllic scene in Lunacy, Alaska, I decided for a few days I should move to a charming town in the brisk, isolated state to find my own Nate Burke.
Nate Burke, the real guy fantasy hero of Northern Lights is emotional, tall and a man who loves his job (and he knows how to use a gun, sexy!). I had no trouble imagining warming up to him in the snow covered Alaska. I still can’t figure out why he fell in love with Meg but then again we can’t choose who we fall in love with or why for that matter. Because I love cops, who are strong, have feelings and are a bit jealous, Nate Burke is definitely on # 4 on my Sultry Six.

Nate is a city man who comes to Lunatic for a fresh start after a tragic accident. Nate immediately discovers that his new town is full of eccentric characters led by the aggressive and abrasive Meg. Meg is not like many women in romance novels or ones that I have encountered in my everyday life. Meg uses sex as sport and the words she uses to convey her desire for sex sometimes seem a bit harsh and unrealistic. I’ve never approached a man like Meg does Nate but it works for her. It seems as though Meg lives her life through a series of one night stands, but her language about it can be a bit off putting.

Light In Shadow
by Jayne Ann Krentz
This fast paced story of secret identities, tortured pasts and romantic drama revolves around interior designer Zoe Luce, her voluminous multi-colored totes, and the compelling Private Investigator Ethan Truax. In the town of Whispering Springs, AZ, Zoe Luce wears her violet pant suit and chartreuse tote on a beautiful day to meet her newest and somewhat suspicious client. A questionable fashion choice but it just adds to the mystique that Ethan finds attractive.
Zoe is able to hear screaming walls where past horrors occurred and it’s after walking into a room and feeling the aura of the walls that she seeks out PI Ethan Truax. Ethan is immediately sexy and complicated with an instant hint of mystery. Their first encounter in his office is filled with sexual attraction and the hope of future possibilities (with her totes never far behind).
Zoe and Ethan’s romantic affair begins after a drunken night of celebration. After one too many glasses of champagne Zoe and Ethan go back to Zoe’s place to engage in “adrenaline jag”, which is hot, steamy sex with a man you've only known for 2 days (we’ve all been there). Soon Ethan realizes that Zoe is hiding a secret and the story becomes thoroughly enjoyable. Ethan and Zoe maintain their intense desire for one another throughout the many obstacles they encounter.
Ethan is a complicated man with muscles, overflowing confidence and hints of silver at the temples. He is heroic and strong. He is the man with a tough exterior and a heart of amazing depths. His obvious flaw is his taste in residences. He lives in an all pink house. I’m surprised he would ever take a woman to that monstrosity. But he’s a family man so I can forgive pink walls, pink carpet and pink furniture. Ethan is the man for you if you want adventure and excitement. He’s definitely not the kind to sit in and watch movies on a regular basis. For those qualities he is # 3 on the Sultry Six.
